I have manual vice grips on my tensile testing machine. A colleague says pneumatic grips are better and easier to use, is this true and how can I get more information?

Answer

I would always select pneumatic grips in preference to manual for testing textile specimens. They allow you to load up the specimens correctly whilst closing the jaws. Gripping pressure can be adjusted for the type of specimen you\'re testing, minimise jaw breaks and remove slippage issues.
