Answer

Hi Sylvia,

May I hv yr help to advise the general figure on tearing perofrmance on ctn twill with different yarn size ?

68x58/32/2 x 32/2 twill

66x54/16/1 x 16/1 twill

On above, the fabric weight/density is almost same but one got single ply and other is in double ply. My understanding is the performance on double ply should be better than single poly. Am I correct ?

I note from the above information that the weave count is not the same so I would expect the results to be double going from a single yarn to a folded yarn. Also the finisjing process may not have been the same for both fabrics. You also need to take the method tearing method type into account.

Without doing actual testing you can not always make assumptions. It is always best to test to confirm by testing remember the warp tear strength will be different to the weft tear strength also. Sylvia
